How to travel to Boracay
GETTING THERE.
Flight from Manila or Cebu to Kalibo or Caticlan.
From Manila, take the 50-minute Philippine Airlines flight to Kalibo in
the province of Aklan; from where you travel another two hours inland (
via bus or jeepney ) to Caticlan, visitors are asked to fill up forms
regarding travel details. Then, it's off to Boracay via outrigger boats.
STAYING IN.
There are around 200 establishments for every whim and budget. From
airconditioned rooms to quiet cottages trimmed with greens and flowers. A
number of these have airconditioned rooms and television sets, others are
blissfully powerless--just the way nature wants it.
GETTING AROUND.
The mood is very casual. Dress light. Walking is great for exploring the
island's numerous white sand beaches, freshwater lagoons, coconut
plantations and fishponds. Low-powered motorcycles are also available. Or
go on horseback. Peso is the medium of exchange. The U.S. Dollar and major
credit cards are widely accepted. Peak season is from November to May.
BEST TIME TO GO.
Boracay is great to visit anytime you like, of course there is so much to

most of your stay in the island.
MAJOR EVENTS BORACAY.
January and February in Boracay: The world-famous Kalibo Ati-Atihan
Festival, the Philippine mardi gras which is celebrated every third week
of January. International sports events such as the Boracay
International Funboard Cup and the Annual International Paraw Cup
Challenge is held during January to February.
BORACAY WEATHER.
It is during this time of the year when the "amihan" (northeast monsoon)
season produces winds that are most reliable and at their strongest.
March, April, and May are the summer months. Except a lot of local
visitors because it's vacation time for the students.
OFF-SEASON MONTHS.
June, July and September are off-season months in Boracay. Budget
conscious tourist swear that this is the best time to go since Boracay
rates are cheapest and there are few "rivals" for that precious patch of
white sand beach.
PEAK SEASON.
October marks the beginning of the peak season. This already lasts until
the summer months. During the months of October, November and December,
the cool, tropical climate is at its best in the island.
FUN - RESTAURANTS - CLOTHES
Boat trips around the island, windsurfing, diving, sailing, horseback
riding, snorkeling, golf, mountain biking.
There are four miles of beachfront restaurants with every kind of food you
can imagine: Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Spanish, French,
German, Korean, as well as Filipino.
You need very few clothes. Beach clothes/towels can be bought on the
island. Sweet pants and tops are useful if you go at Christmas, when it
can get cool at night.
